from the land of the lost

Last night at the end of the day, after dinner and bath time, getting on nightclothes and brushing teeth, after picking up the living-room and complaining that she should never have to go to sleep when it's still light outside, we had just enough time before I read her a bedtime story to embark upon an epic adventure.

A journey so amazing that no one era could hope to contain it.

I let K watch a show that Mike watched as a kid.  A show I watched as a kid (in repeats people... in repeats).  A show that is quite possibly the reason I never wanted my hair to be blond.

Last night before story time I hooked the EeePC up to the television, signed into Hulu and let K watch the very first episode of LAND OF THE LOST!!!!

You remember it don't you?  The bad acting?  The adventure?  The mystery?  The intrigue?  The hilarious claymation?

The Land of the Lost is one of my favorite shows from childhood.  I loved it.  I adored it.  I wanted to go rafting and during a massive earthquake fall for almost an eternity and land in a place that time forgot.  In another fricking world!!!

Only I didn't want my brother to be there because he and I totally would have killed each other on a trip like that.

And do you know what I discovered last night when I watched this show, this wonder of wonders, this program that educated me about survival practices and how to set a broken leg?  I realized that it is one of the worst shows in television history.

But despite that, my daughter and I both loved every horrific moment of it.  I wouldn't be at all surprised if we watched episode 2 tonight.  In fact, I'll be surprised if we don't.
